About Us
The Yale Science Diplomats are a campus group devoted to educating the public about science issues that affect them and encouraging scientists to become engaged in the political process. Motivated by the enormous impact science and technology policy decisions will have on our future and the conviction that, as scientists, we have a valuable voice that is rarely heard, our group is actively working to address and educate the public on diverse topics ranging from climate change to healthcare.
Our most successful program to date is Science in the News, an annual series of fun, educational lectures given in the Spring semester by grad students and post-docs to the New Haven community.
The group was formerly known as the Scientists and Engineers for America (SEA) chapter at Yale, and was founded in 2007-2008 by several graduate students after they learned of the organization at a career fair in New York City.
